Shopping Wish List!

As I sit here at my desk on this beautiful Friday afternoon, I can't help but have shopping on the brain. It doesn't help the fact that my current view out the window is of the Buy Buy Summer Sidewalk Sale, either...

Despite my eagerness to hit the sales going on right outside my window, I have decided to do a little bit of pre-shopping. While browsing, I made a brief little wish list for myself of a few things that I love right now. I hope this list gets you excited for some shopping this weekend!
Get ready to do some damage.

  1. Club Monaco Elsa Pant $149.50 2. GAP Military Belt $34.95 3. L. Bartlett J Brand Jacket 4. Accents Black Top $39 5. Banana Republic Braxton Flat $120 6. LOFT Graphic Print Pouch $19.50

THROWBACK THURSDAY: I Love the '90s

For Throwback Thursday today I'm taking a stroll down memory lane to the dear old days of my childhood: the '90s. For those of you fellow '80s babies out there who grew up during this decade too, I'm sure you can back me up when I say: it was awesome

I can remember it like it was just yesterday: Nickelodeon wasn't just a channel; it was life. My biggest fear was running out of batteries to my ipod portable cd player. My favorite past times were AIM, playing Dream Phone, and dominating at Mario Kart on Nintendo 64 (Princess Peach was my girl).  "As if!" and "you've got it dude" became regular phrases thanks to Cher and the adorable Michelle Tanner. I stayed awake at night worrying about Ross and Rachel's relationship status (they were so not on a break) and I dreamed of the day I would marry all of my celebrity crushes whose posters covered every inch of my walls (JTT 4-Ever).

One part of the '90s has managed to make a comeback- fashion. I will admit that not all of the trends from this decade should make a reappearance... I can't quite say I am ready to break out a pair of MC Hammer pants just yet. However, a modern approach to the favorite looks from the '90s has been a recent favorite look of mine. I hope you are ready for a fashion flashback!

1. Gap Floral Ruffle Dress $59.95 2. Banana Republic Felt Panama Hat $59.50 3. Pitaya Denim Vest $36 4. Club Monaco Cross-body Bag 5. Flud Boombox Watch at Demerara 6. Colored Denim Jacket at Accents 7. Loft Textured Metal Cuff $34.50 8. Jeffrey Campbell Platform Sneakers at LF Stores

While we are reminiscing, I couldn't help but be reminded of some of my 90's memories while growing up. Although it was hard to limit myself to just a few, here are some of my favorites:

I hope you have enjoyed this quick little trip down memory lane! What are some of your favorite memories from the '90s?

Great Gifts Under $100!

I'm sure we all can agree that it is nice to get a little gift every now and then.  Although it's always fun when I'm the one on the recieving end, there is still nothing better than giving someone a gift, especially if you know they will love it!

I know I don't speak alone when I say this time of year is typically when my calendar starts getting a little booked. Last minute weekend trips are planned, birthday dinners are put together, and end-of-summer (sigh...) pool bashes are beginning to form. That being said, I have got a few gifts to buy. But with such a jam-packed social calendar, it can be overwhelming for anyone with so many presents to buy, especially when the cost of these so-called little gifts add up.

Typically, I am a procrastinator when it comes to these kinds of things. But one thing I learned from my mother ("the hostess with the most-ess" is one of her favorite phrases...) is that there is nothing worse than accepting an invitation and showing up empty-handed. To avoid this dilemma, I have decided to get a jump start on brainstorming gift ideas for these kinds of occasions and have found the perfect gift for everyone on my list- all under $100!

1. The Fashion File Book, Brooks Brothers $28.50
3. Rana Cocktail Ring in Blue, Kendra Scott $50
4. Votivo Candle in Red Current, y&i Clothing Boutique $28
5. Cork Date Night Package, Cork Wine Bar $50-$100
6. Hand Beaded Braceletes from Bali, Indigo 2 for $25
7. Bailey Leather Tablet Case, Banana Republic $69.50
8. Too Faced Natural Eye Shadow Kit, L.Bartlett $34
6. Nail Bar Gift Card

Summer Vacation Essentials: What to Pack

Whenever the word 'summer' comes to mind, so does the word 'vacation'... like 'milk' and 'cookies.'  I mean lets face it -- adults need summer vacation too! I constantly find myself daydreaming of lounging by the pool, soaking in the sun, and feeling the cool ocean breeze somewhere exotic. My tropical paradise, however, is rudely interrupted by a dreadful realization: packing.

We all know that along with the joys of any dream vacay comes the stressful planning of what to pack. Lucky for you, I just returned from sunny California last week and have the packing essentials fresh on my mind. So whether you are off yachting in the south of France or island-hopping in the Caribbean, (a girl can dream, can't she?) there are a few items that should be in every suitcase.
Here are my MUST-HAVES:

1. Maxi Dress: Always bring this. A maxi dress is always a good choice because you can easily take it from day to night. Dress it up and wear it out to dinner or you can dress it down and wear it to the pool. Fashionable and comfortable are always key, just like this Gypsy 05 little number from L.Bartlett.
2: Denim Shorts: You can never go wrong with jean shorts, plain and simple. A pair like these from Lucky Brand should be in every girl's suitcase.
3. Summer Sweater: Even in the warmest of weather, a light sweater like this from Club Monaco is always good to have. Even if it just gets it's use in the frigid airport, you will be thankful. Plus, many places that are warm during the day can quicky turn cool at night. Trust me, you will be glad you brought it.
4. Tote: A carry-all that you can throw everything in is super practical when you are taking a trip. Use it to store your passport, wallet, makeup- anything you want. Some can be bulky and a pain to take, I know. Try to find one that is easy to pack that can easily lay flat in your suitcase, like this leather travel tote from Gap.
5. Basic accessories: Once the issue of what clothes to bring is determined, you're still not quite done yet. I love bold statement pieces just like every other girl, but sticking to the basics is never a bad idea. Also, try to stick to one color- either silver or gold- to avoid overloading on jewelry. You can still accessorize and add some flare to your outfit with simple pieces, like these hoops or link necklace from Banana Republic.
6. Flip-flops: Flip-flops are a definite must. They basically take up zero space and can just be thrown in your bag! I like these Yosi Samra flats because they are comfy and basic, but also can easily be dressed up. You can wear them daytime or night. Or shoot, because of the comfort factor, wear 'em all day and night!
7. Clutch: When going out at night, have fun with your outfit and carry a  clutch or small purse. Usually I like to bring clothing in neutral colors that are easy to mix and match and add a colorful punch with accessories. I like this Rebecca Minkoff Mini M.A.C. from Demerara because the blue is a pop of color but it is dark enough to be chic and neutral enough to easily be worn with anything.
8. Nude Wedge: Let's face it- every girl loves a good shoe. That's sometimes the best part of an outfit! Unfortunately, they can also take up the most room in your suitcase. Luckily, good nude wedge will go with everything. The comfort of the platform of this pair from LOFT is an added bonus if you are going to be walking around a lot.
9. Travel-Size Toiletries: Once you made it this far packing, you can finally start to see the end of the tunnel! I always find it really useful to bring travel-size toiletries. It seems like an obvious essential, but it's also really easy to forget to bring (plus, sometimes even the nicest of hotels have the worst taste in shampoos).  I discovered the best shampoo, Kérestase, at Lure Salon and was so excited to find that the brand makes their products in travel-size!

Of course, I couldn't forget about the guys out there:

1. Shorts

Now, enough of this packing nonsense. Get going! Your adventure awaits you.

Seeing Stars and Stripes

Lezbionest. Independence Day has become some sort of Fashion Holiday it seems... alongside the sea of green on St. Patrick's Day and the hippie-outbreak at Coachella. Gone are the days of throwing on your red bikini from 5 years ago underneath a ratty t-shirt you picked up on Spring Break 1999 in Key West. Oh no. It seems our style expectations of the red, white and blue have gone up... along with our American pride. Whatever your style may be, it's all about individuality and freedom - which is what this country is all about! Whether you're beachside, lakeside, poolside or even grillside... We've got something for you to show off your patriotic spirit!

From flirty dresses and cute tops to casual cutoffs and swimwear, the options are endless this 4th of July! I love how the American flag is incorporated onto just about anything- even denim vests (I want to wear the one pictured below year-round!).

Column 1: Banana Republic Paige wristlet $47.50 ; Gap Asymmetrical Striped Dress $64.95 ; J Brand Vintage Star Cut Off Shorts at L. Get the Look: Tribal

Tribal print isn't anything new in the fashion world. We have all seen it before and yet it keeps popping up in all of the latest trends of the season. I guess that means it is here to stay -  and I'm doing a mini-tribal happy dance in my head about it. There is something about the rich patterns and beautiful colors that I (and the rest of the world) just can't seem to get enough of. You see it on skirts, dresses, shorts, bags- you name it, it's tribal.

Sometimes trends can seem a little tired and overused, but not this one. I think it keeps coming back because of it's ability to wear in so many different ways and styles. You can find the print in vibrant shades if you are into bright colors (like me, as you can tell in one of my earlier posts), subtler hues of pastels for a lighter look, or even rich and darker tones that will make a bold statement and an outfit instantly pop.

Get the look from two of my style favorites, Katie and Kim:

When out and about in West Village, I couldn't help but notice the print everywhere! Below are some of my favorite tribal-inspired finds:

1. Club Monaco Wayuu Taya Bag $295
2. L. Bartlett House of Harlow Necklace $298
3. Gap Ikat Canvas Shorts $49.95
4. Gap Ikat Espadrilles $25.46

6. Banana Republic Talia Ikat Shirt $69.99
7. Kendra Scott Shiva Earrings $75

Gobble Up Black Friday Deals in West Village

Let's be honest... after the tryptophan kicks in, the last thing you'll want to do is get in a fight over a parking spot, only to stand in a mile-long line to find out that the thing you have been pining over all year is completely sold out. (I swear I'm not still bitter...)

Instead, avoid the shuffle and take a leisurely stroll through the West Village (hot chocolate in-hand), and peruse the goods at your own pace. While you're here, stop and grab a bite or treat to refuel. Here's the skinny on what we've got going on for this Thanksgiving holiday...
