This October, California-based LF opened at West Village. Located across from Starbucks between Epic Apparel and Lilli London, LF has become the must have destination for many fashionistas who crave upcoming trends on the fashion circuit. The brand has become well known for their innovative trends, variety and assortment, and personalized styling sessions. With a passion for cutting edge looks the new shop will constantly receive new and innovative product. We met with Mariel Furst from the national LF store team to hear more about the West Village shop.

DIY Runway Hair from Lure Salon

This season, we fell in love with the voluminous pony-roll 'dos from the runway of Vera Wang's fall 2011 collection (see exclusive backstage images from Beauty Blitz blog). The boldly romantic look is perfect for fall, and it's designed to be a quick fix that's easy to execute without a team of stylists, because let's be honest we can't all live like a Kardashian.

Here are some easy, DIY tips and tricks to get the look and add a touch of the runway to your fall style.

Need:

Oribe Dry Texturizing Spray

Oribe Superfine Hair Spray

Oribe Royal Blowout Heat Styling Spray

Elastic Band

2 Premium Bob Pins

Where to Start:

Spray in Oribe Dry Texturizing Spray into your dry hair. This product is great for texture for women of all hair types, and for those that would prefer to go a couple days without a wash; this sodium chloride and paraben-free product also works as a dry shampoo!

The Real Work:

1. After spraying, comb your hair back, for the sleek look at the front. Tie into a loose pony tail with an elastic band. For the hair that doesn’t feel like there is bundles to work with, don’t be afraid to have some fun and tease around the nape and collarbone area. It’ll give the appearance that you had tons of hair to work with. Others with lots of hair, keeping it matte and sleek works!
2. Take the pony tail and tuck under to hide the elastic band. Crisscross two large bobby pins across the elastic band; it should be pinned to the nape of the neck. Shake your head side to side to reassure the hold. 
3. If you would like to add shine, at a distance, lightly spray Oribe Royal Blowout Heat Styling Spray. (For blow drying, Oribe Royal Blowout Heat Styling Spray can also be used to speed up the blow drying process. A little Royal Blowout goes a long way though, so always try to spray from the ends up to avoid an oily scalp.) 
   
4. To finish, lightly spray Oribe Superfine Hair Spray.

New Amsterdam
Crisp autumn apples in a glass

2 parts Calvados
1 part Bourbon
1/2 part creme de cassis
1 part apple juice

Shake ingredients with ice and strain into a martini glass and garnish with a floating dried apple slice.




 

 Pineapple Pisco Sour

Tart, tangy taste of the tropics

2 parts Pisco
3/4 part Orange Curacao
1 part Pineapple Juice
1 part Sour Mix
1/2 part simple syrup
4 pineapple cubes

Mix all ingredients together with ice and serve in a tall glass.

Kentucky Mai Tai
Island classic with a Bluegrass twist

1 part bourbon
1 part Southern Comfort
1 part Orange Juice
1 part Orgeat
1/2 part fresh lime juice
1 dash Angostura bitters

Mix all ingredients together with ice, serve in a double rocks glass, garnish with an orange peel.

Côtes du Coeur Wine Society Mobile Pizza Smackdown Kick Off Event

Thursday, September 29

On Thursday, September 29 the Côtes du Coeur Wine Society and Young at Heart groups hosted the 2011-2012 kick off event at West Village, a Mobile Pizza Smackdown featuring Chefs Paolo Cavalli of Cavalli Pizzeria, Salvatore Gisellu of Urban Crust and Jay Jerrier of Il Cane Rosso. Guests sampled each of the chefs' delicious specialties, and then put their vote in for the winner. Urban Crust chef Salvatore Gisellu was selected as Dallas' reigning wood-burning pizza chef! Club Monaco & The Man Repeller

Featured in Club Monaco's Fall 2 lookbook, Leandra Medine, the blogger behind The Man Repeller, discusses how international street style blogs and artist such as Frank Sinatra inspire her quirky style.
