What are you doing this weekend? Because over here in the Village, people are ready to CELEBRATE!

The first of the festivities is the one year anniversary of Club Monaco at West Village. Can you believe they have already been here a year? As if their current sale (additional 30% off of sale items) wasn't enough to get you into the store this weekend, their anniversary celebration will! Today and tomorrow come shop while enjoying some champy and mini cupcakes while browsing their expansive sale section (I checked it out- it's HUGE!). Plus, if you are feeling lucky, you can enter a raffle to win a $100 Club Monaco gift card.

Get the Look: Tribal

Tribal print isn't anything new in the fashion world. We have all seen it before and yet it keeps popping up in all of the latest trends of the season. I guess that means it is here to stay -  and I'm doing a mini-tribal happy dance in my head about it. There is something about the rich patterns and beautiful colors that I (and the rest of the world) just can't seem to get enough of. You see it on skirts, dresses, shorts, bags- you name it, it's tribal.

Sometimes trends can seem a little tired and overused, but not this one. I think it keeps coming back because of it's ability to wear in so many different ways and styles. You can find the print in vibrant shades if you are into bright colors (like me, as you can tell in one of my earlier posts), subtler hues of pastels for a lighter look, or even rich and darker tones that will make a bold statement and an outfit instantly pop.

Get the look from two of my style favorites, Katie and Kim:

When out and about in West Village, I couldn't help but notice the print everywhere! Below are some of my favorite tribal-inspired finds:

1. Club Monaco Wayuu Taya Bag $295
2. L. Bartlett House of Harlow Necklace $298
3. Gap Ikat Canvas Shorts $49.95
4. Gap Ikat Espadrilles $25.46
5. L. Bartlett Amanda Uprichard Top $198
6. Banana Republic Talia Ikat Shirt $69.99
7. Kendra Scott Shiva Earrings $75
8. LOFT Crinkle Maxi Skirt $79.50 -take an extra 30%!

Beauty Bundle How-To: Get Beach Texture Hair in 2 Steps

There's nothing better than the waves of the beach...in your hair.  No, not the sand and salt and everything else the beach washes up to knot up your hair. I'm talking about the "I just was at the beach all day and have that carefree, surfer-girl hair" kind of look. But as we all know, achieving this "effortless" look often requires more effort than we thought. Although it would be nice to hop a jet to the beach anytime you want to give your mane the magical touch of the waves, that's not exactly in the cards for all of us.

I have tried all the products and techniques out there, but still haven't found an easy and quick solution- that is, until now. Aveda has created a video tutorial on how to get this au-naturale texture for your hair in - get ready for it - 2 steps! That's right. Only using two steps and two products, you can see exactly how the hairstylist is doing. Here's how:

In fact, Aveda has a whole page on their website dedicated to other beauty and hair how-to's using their very own products, which you can find at Avalon Salon and Spa. And if you are in need of any more beauty inspiration, be sure to check out the rest of our beauty bundle and see what else we have in store for you!

50 Shades of Summer

If I know one thing is for sure, it's that the only shades of grey I will be seeing this summer is my next poolside read. Today marks the first day of summer (although the brutal Texas heat index had me fooled) and I am seeing COLOR. Blues, pinks, corals, mint... the list goes on. What I love about this colorful fashion craze is the ability to play around with the range of shades and hues. A style that has been hard to miss- literally- is neon. From denim to fun party dresses, the electric wave of color definitely will make your outfit stand out and pop!

Fluorescent hues not your style? No problem. Pretty colors in softer tones are a chic and easy way to brighten up any summer wardrobe. Wear them in bold prints and patterns, mix and match different shades, or even try the monochromatic look (see the oh-so-minty Club Monaco outfit below- I'm obsessed) to create a unique outfit for whatever your style.  Check out some of my favorite finds from all over West Village that are sure to add some color to your summer.

All I can say is...things are looking pretty bright over here in the Vil!

1. Club Monaco Shawna Silk Top $129.50 / Kera Crop Pant $129.50
2. Bow Top from LF  $120
3. L. Bartlett Dolce Vita Archer Sandal in Mint $65
4. Colored denim from Accents $39
5. Kendra Scott Valencia Necklace in Pink $120

Time for a TIY

As I have said before, I love shopping. But when it comes to retiring my worn -yet beloved- clothing, I can't seem to say goodbye. There is a certain attachment I have with some of my favorite items. Even if they literally are hanging by a thread. Sadly, all good things must come to an end...or do they?

Inspired by the arrival of eBay's Selling Style Studio coming to West Village THIS Weekend (see my previous post if you haven't already!), I actually attempted to de-clutter my closet. Amidst my cleaning spree, I decided to wander into the abyss that is, my t-shirt drawer. As I dug through the black hole, I got nostalgic as I discovered some of my old favorites. I realize the whole point of cleaning out a closet is to get rid of the clutter, not add to it... right? Technically, yes. But thanks to Gap's partnership with Threadless, the charitable t-shirt company supporting emerging artists, I have found a way to keep some of my old favorite T's - minus the guilt

The Gap + Threadless have teamed up and created a line of t-shirts with cool graphics and creative, artistic designs. Together they have started T.I.Y. (T-It-Yourself), a series of tutorials that show you how to convert your old t-shirts into, well, something else. Some of the projects include how to create your own wall art, comfy pillows, necklaces, and even stylish flip-flops. I chose make my own beach bag (probably because I can't get the beach off of my mind) using a vintage Key West t-shirt I bought years ago. I grabbed the only other two tools needed, a pair of scissors and a ruler, and five minutes later I had my own beach tote. Check out my crafty skills below!

Click here for a step-by-step guide on how you can make your own one of these fun totes for summer!

Look for a new project every Friday on Gap's facebook page for even  more creative ways to transform your old t-shirts. And if you fall in love with the T's they use in the projects, don't forget you can shop the Gap + Threadless collection at Gap!

eBay Selling Style Studio at West Village!

If there is one thing my friends know about me, it is that I love shopping. The problem, however, is that I cannot seem to let go of half the beloved items in my closet. Yes, it is true. I have closest commitment issues. I even have a box that is overflowing with old clothes that I have been meaning to get rid of, but I just haven't been able to depart with yet. If you are like me and share this fear of letting go (I know I can't be the only one out there...) you are in luck!

THIS Friday and Saturday, June 22 & 23, eBay's Chic Squad and Selling Style Studio, the interactive pod that teaches you how to successfully sell items on eBay,  will be here in West Village from 11:00am to 7:00pm! So remember that bag you just had to have but only wore once? Or how about the never-worn pair of shoes you couldn't live without that are still sitting in the box? Bring in one personal fashion item you wish to sell (think new or gently worn denim, handbags, accessories, shoes, and dresses) and a member of the Chic Squad will teach you the four selling basics-  how to script, shoot, price, and list.

The eBay Selling Style Studio in New York City

Along with the pop-up styling studio will be Chic Squad member and celebrity stylist Danielle Nachmani, who has dressed starlets such as Mary-Kate Olsen and Maggie Gyllenhaal. In addition, local Dallas eBay expert Mindy Loll of SaviorLuxe will be here to offer the latest fashion tips to help sell your style and rake in some extra cash. Leading the pack of chic stylists is Celebrity and Fashion stylist Brad Goreski (It's a Brad, Brad World...anyone?)

The eBay Selling Style Studio is touring throughout the U.S., making stops in New York, San Francisco, L.A., and of course, Dallas! The styling studio will be here THIS weekend ONLY in the South Alley between Mi Cocina and the Magnolia Theatre. So come drop by, bring your own top-selling item, and be ready to start cashing in on your own style.

See you there! RSVP here

Father's Day Shopping in West Village!

Alright, Father's Day is only TWO days away. If you are still out there searching for something to buy dad- like me- you know what this means: It's crunch time. But finding that perfect gift for dad can be tough, and if he is anything like my dear old dad, sometimes it can seem impossible. Every year is the same story. I ask him what he wants and his response is far from helpful. Although his answer is always "Oh, I don't really need anything," or "just time with you is enough for me"... but let's be real. He deserves a little something on this special day.

But back to the initial problem- what on earth do you buy him? It seems when I finally do find something he would like, all hope is lost when I look at the price tag. (Who knew menswear was so pricey these days?) To help make this year a little easier, I have scoured all of West Village for the best sales and have found some awesome gifts- and some HUGE steals! From leather goods and accessories to dress shirts and ties, I have found it all.

Here's the low-down on who's got the best deals...

Master Glass Opening Ceremony at Ro2 Art Gallery!

Calling all art-lovers!

THIS Saturday, June 16th marks the beginning of Part II: Master Glass Invitational, an exhibition in celebration of the works of Dale Chihuly showcasing 31 nationally known glass artists and emerging talents from Texas- and we couldn’t be happier that it kicks off at our very own Ro2 Art Gallery, right here in West Village! The gallery will be hosting the Opening Reception THIS Saturday, June 16th from 6:00-9:00 PM, where anyone can mosey on in and visit with the artists, enjoy a glass of wine, and admire some amazing glass work.

In case you haven’t heard of Master Glass 2012, it is a three-part celebration of glass in its many forms by artists from the Dallas area. The 31 artists were all spotlighted at 12 different Dallas galleries during Part I. Now, in Part II, the artists have selected their favorite piece to be displayed at Ro2 Art Gallery. From etched glass and stained glass, to kiln-fired glass and beyond, expect to see unique glass work in all different forms, shapes, and sizes. I even took a sneak peak at the gallery earlier today and let me tell you- prepare to be amazed!

The exhibition is brought together at the height of the glass movement as this year marks the 50th anniversary of the American Glass Studio Movement that was launched in 1962 in Toledo, Ohio. Previously, glass had not been widely recognized as an actual art form. However, throughout the country people are now beginning to recognize it as a medium, and now Dallas is a part of this national conversation, highlighting local artists from the area. Although the Invitational lasts until July 15th, the real fun will be THIS Saturday night for the Opening Reception at Ro2 Art Gallery and celebrate it all coming together. See you there!

y&i Party Wrap-up!

Remember my post about the newest addition to West Village? California-based clothing boutique, y&i, celebrated their grand opening last Thursday June 7th. If a line of eager customers waiting out the door were any indication of success, then I would say owners Robyn and Robin (hence the y and the i…) have good reason to celebrate! The Dallas high school besties and college roommates have combined their love of fashion to create a boutique that is fun, fashionable, and best of all- affordable. The store is full of flowy dresses, colorful tops, and bright accessories that allow customers to mix brands and create a stylish look for a reasonable price.  A 100+ crowd turned up last Thursday night to kick off the store’s arrival to West Village and of course, shop!

From the minute the doors opened, anxious customers poured in and the first 50 attendees scored some pretty sweet swag bags. Needless to say, the bags went fast! But those that arrived fashionably late did get a chance to win some free goodies in a raffle. (I'm talking legit shoes, jewelry and gift cards!) Every fifteen minutes a ticket was drawn and the number called out won a prize.  Sadly, my number was never called (I had my hopes on winning a pair of snakeskin flats) but my purchases were quickly justified when I learned all merchandise was 20% OFF! After obsessing over the assortment of clothes and jewelry, I had worked up an appetite. The stylish soiree, hosted by Dallas Tidbits, featured complimentary Mediterranean bites from Baboush and Pinkberry, as well as sips from No. 3 Dry Gin from Anchor Distilling Company

Trina Turk for Banana Republic

I nearly fell out of my chair when I heard there was going to be a capsule collection created exclusively by Banana Republic in collaboration with the fun-loving, California native designer, Trina Turk. Talk about a match made in summer chic heaven... With the clean, classic lines of Banana Republic and Turk's tropical hues and pop prints - I was already booking my flight to some exotic beach so I would have an excuse for the damage that was about to be done on my credit card. (No? Too soon?

Then I got the call that the clothes would be arriving yesterday morning at our West Village store. As soon as I arrived, they told me that the collection had already sold out online, and that their store supply was halfway gone! I quickly snatched up every print and bright hue that resembled my size (my tailor is on my speed dial) and headed for the dressing rooms.

Don't forget about the baubles either. There was everything from enamel bangles to statement rings to jewel-topped box clutches to take you from day to night - all between $40-$100! Turk's inspiration for this collection was a mix of Palm Springs, pop prints and mid-century design

My advice? GO NOW. Once they're out, they're out. Capiche?
