National Relaxation Day!

I consider myself a pro at R&R (maybe a little too much). 

Some say laziness -- I say selective participation.  

Don't get me wrong. I love being productive and getting things done, but with all the hustle and bustle, non-stop phone calls and emails, frustrating traffic (and the road rage that comes with it), and other stresses from the daily grind, sometimes taking a break isn't so much a want, but a need.

Can't a sister get a break?

Luckily, Tommy Bahama is looking out for all of us. They firmly believe that we all deserve an official day of relaxation and wants to make August 15th a national holiday. A fellow believer in the importance of a little idleness every now and then, I had to share. Can you imagine? A whole day dedicated-nationally- to taking it easy, being stress-free, and actually enjoying life. A day where throwing out any to-do lists is okay and not having any social commitments is acceptable. 

If you agree, Tommy Bahama invites you to sign their petition to help make National Relaxation Day official. Plus, by giving them your signature you are entered into a chance to win a 14-day Hawaiian cruise. If you're still on the fence about whether or not you want to sign the petition, don't stress! You have until August 15th to put it down in ink. All I know is, I am going to be parking it on a hammock, poolside, drink-in-hand.

Cheers To Fall

Tommy Bahama put a festive fall twist on their classic cocktails. Try the recipes below to enjoy a taste of autumn!

New Amsterdam
Crisp autumn apples in a glass

2 parts Calvados
1 part Bourbon
1/2 part creme de cassis
1 part apple juice

Shake ingredients with ice and strain into a martini glass and garnish with a floating dried apple slice.




 

 Pineapple Pisco Sour

Tart, tangy taste of the tropics

2 parts Pisco
3/4 part Orange Curacao
1 part Pineapple Juice
1 part Sour Mix
1/2 part simple syrup
4 pineapple cubes

Mix all ingredients together with ice and serve in a tall glass.

Kentucky Mai Tai
Island classic with a Bluegrass twist

1 part bourbon
1 part Southern Comfort
1 part Orange Juice
1 part Orgeat
1/2 part fresh lime juice
1 dash Angostura bitters

Mix all ingredients together with ice, serve in a double rocks glass, garnish with an orange peel.
